imageYesterday I show up to work and the lead bartender and manager are talking in a somewhat serious/somber tone. They immediately ask me if I recognize a wine bottle that is one of the new additions to our wine list and ask me if I have sold any of them.

Our wine list has been an absolute mess in terms of us not having a LOT of wines at any given time to an embarrassing extent and this was a random cheaply priced wine that was added that we actually had in stock. I was quite pleased when I noticed it.

One day in particular over the week it was on the list we were out of our house pinot noir. A table wants a bottle so I return with the wine list. "We are actually out of that one but we have THIS amazing Pinot Noir from Burgundy and its actually 5 dollars cheaper = D [the bottle in question]"

I was observing the bottle in particular with my coworker and was actually surprised because of all the french terminology on the label that I was reading about in my wine book was right on the label. Premier cru burgundy for 70 dollars? how weird!

flashforward to me at the bar. my response "yes! ive been selling the fuck out of that bottle!"

the manager: We have been selling that bottle for seventy dollars... it should have been going for TWO seventy.

counts in my head at least 7 bottles sold like it was nothing over the course of the week from me alone
