The second in my new wave of updates goes to Sherry (Ryan's mother) from Child Genius
Sherry was a special kind of crazy on Child genius. her actions constantly bordered between disturbing and hilarious, and her storyline throughout the season was one of my favorites.
The first episode depicted Sherry as a stereotypical Asian mom, and she even admitted it. Her reaction to Ryan's first place victory was only a small glimpse at how she would act for the rest of the season: http://uploadir.com/u/o0b5lk8h
During the 3 or so weeks of Ryan slipping into MOR placement wise, Sherry dissapointment/worrysome facial reactions appeared whenever he got a question wrong. Even in rounds where Ryan got 9/10 questions right, there was always the "he can do better" "he can study harder" with the husband enabling her < 3
She got so obsessed with the competition that she moved the family to a hotel to not have to move back and forth between the competition, all while promising ryan's brother he would get a new computer if ryan made finals.
What I loved about her the most, was during the family confessionals. She would spew some fake positive bullshit and ryan would call her out on it instantly and she would only partially correct herself. lol @ her pinching ryan during a confessional for calling her out < 3
When ryan lost i was expecting a complete meltdown, but instead she was just like "you know what... this is good! ^_^ ryan learned a good lesson from this" like lolwhut xD Until ryan immediately called her out on being his harshest critic and she immedietely dropped the facade and was like "well if only you studied this morning!"
lol she was so fake and was pretty much the sole source of conflict within her family and morph from typical asian mom to this patronizing figure who tried to stay composed to the public while it was so transparent how awful she was was hilarious.
