As stated, you gave points to other pairs to protect them.  The only way the points will come into play is that the pair with the most points will earn safety from the Pit.

That protected team will then save the pair they trust the most from the Pit based on their list saving the highest available option.  That saved pair then saves a pair and so on until 2 pairs are left.

Those 2 pairs will face the 1st Pit.
