With Episodes 4-6 out of the way, it is time for another one of my character assessments for HaloKing’s blog series! As I’ve done before, if your character wasn’t introduced from Episodes 4-6, they will not be included in the assessment. Also, whenever we have deaths in any of the episodes in between assessments, those will be covered first a la “In Memorium”, like how The Talking Dead does their segments. So let’s say a heartfelt good-bye to those we lost in the last 3 episodes.
Kate Anderson, F, 16 (Mac’s sister) – I’m honestly not surprised to see Kate go, but that being said, it didn’t stop the death from being heartbreaking in the slightest. For Mac to see Kate being stuck in the elevator, unable to help her. OMG I would have loved to see Kate develop and grow into her own person, so for her to go the way she did was, while not entirely unexpected, something that just left me in awestruck.
On to the rest of the characters:
Kara Allard, F, 24 – In Episode 4, Kara had a huge scare. Sounds familiar?
If you watched the rest of Season 6, you should know what Glenn’s fate from that is by now. If this has ANY indication on how this series is going to go, then we can expect an answer on Kara’s condition soon, maybe as soon as the very next episode.
Sky Lavenza, F, 8 – Sky is the other character Osiris has in the series. When we applied, those with multiple characters were supposed to have links to their own group of characters. So in that case, Sky must have SOME kind of relationship to Kara. I am excited to find out what that is. Sky should be safe for now.
Justyn Morin, M, 13 – I didn’t really get to see much of Justyn as of late, so he could be fading into the background, OR he could be a part of something bigger. I just don’t know with this guy, and HOPEFULLY he will get a chance to shine in a future episode.
Charlene Lester, F, 25 (Lee’s best friend) – We got to see more of Charlene in Episodes 4 and 5, though I would have liked to see what her past was like that last episode. I am glad she isn’t sitting by while the hospital is under attack. She is showing her resourcefulness and has EVEN found an ally from within the hospital. She’ll be able to recover from her injury and I think she can go a decent ways in this story.
Lee Carter, M, 25 (Charlene’s best friend) – Episode 4 showed why Lee is a badass. Although he couldn’t save Kara from the riot, he WAS able to save Sky and he was able to get to the hospital with her. He’s going to be the guy to look out for in upcoming episodes.
Stanley Quentin, M, 43 (Payton and Adrian’s father) – Like Justyn, he’s faded into the background since Episode 3, but at least he didn’t ENTIRELY do so. That being said, he’s run off blind into a world where riots are literally happening just beyond his doorstep. I’m not gonna make any guarantees, but I can bet he is going to be in huge trouble, especially with the kind of car he is driving.
Julia Quentin, F, 42 (Payton and Adrian mother) – I don’t hate Julia as much as I did 3 episodes ago, but I still don’t care for her either. Maybe I need time to warm up to her or something? I just don’t think that just because she is keeping Peter and Quinton safe that I’m gonna instantly like her as a character. She needs to have a really likable moment for that to happen.
Payton Quentin, F, 17 (Daughter) – Payton’s past man! I know she did drugs and all, but I honestly did NOT expect gang activity to be one of her daily life choices, nor did I think she would sell off her body to someone who was fixing to kill her. But judging from Episodes 4 and 5, Payton is going to become a leader within her group of what is now 4 people.
Adrian Quentin, M, 13 (Son) – I’m glad he went along with Payton because it has really given him an opportunity to be a character and begin to grow as the story goes along. He’s not the rounded-out character Payton is yet, but that’s fine by me. He still has time to grow and we’ll see what happens as this series continues.
Jesse Ferguson, M, 19 (Son) – His behavior is not something I liked, so he lost a few points in Episode 4 for me. That being said, we will see if he gets any redemption, OR if he ends up bitten like his mother. If he keeps up his childish ways, he will almost certainly die.
Charlotte Ferguson, F, 44 (Jesse’s mother) – How is she still not a walker yet? She’s been bitten, and the fact she’s had first aid applied to her does not change my mind about her. She is going to turn sooner or later, and I have a feeling Jesse will feel emotional stress once she does turn.
Peter Grey, M, 16 (Ikaris’ partner) – Peter is another character that I don’t really think has had much of a chance to grow into his own, much like what I said about Adrian. That being said, he hasn’t really made any dumb moves as of yet, so MAYBE he’ll survive? We’ll see, but I really want to see Peter grow without his lover before they reunite though.
Ikaris Love, M, 16 (Peter’s partner) – I think we MIGHT just have our Carl people! Just like Carl was able to recover from having his eye blown out in No Way Out, Ikaris has been able to not only wake up from his accident, but also manage to function as we saw when he and Charlie first met. I’m thinking he and Charlie could be the unlikely duo who survives against all odds.
Quinton Love, M, 16 (Ikaris’ brother) – This guy just DOESN’T know when to shut up, does he? Julia’s drug problem is NOT something you want to be mentioning in Julia’s presence! He seems like he’s a tough guy though, so as long as he and Julia don’t try to kill each other, I could see him having a chance to survive.
Felix Kull, M, 23 – While he had moments of self-dependence in the early episodes, he’s basically been Aria’s hostage since Episode 3. If he’s going to be able to grow as a character and not depend on others to survive, he needs to get his own spotlight and prove he can fend for himself again without Aria’s help.
Missy Hughes, F, 34 ( Alex’s mother) – She’s basically been the caretaker this whole time. She’s had to take care of not only her brother Josh and her family, but now she has to deal with Jesse and Charlotte too. She doesn’t know this yet, but she will need to learn to change and NOT be the all-caring mother figure if she wants to survive going forward, and this should begin to happen once Charlotte turns.
Colby Hughes, M, 36 ( Alex’s father) - We got to see a little bit more of Colby after I did the first assessment, but I can’t figure out what to think of him yet. I do like him more than the other people who are already fathers in this story, but that’s not saying much right now. His part of the story has been all Missy, so either Colby needs to step up to the plate at some point or he will not last very long.
Alex Hughes, F, 16 (Daughter) – She’s honestly in the same boat as Justyn, BUT there is something I do like about Alex, and that is her past relationship with Mark. Before my last assessment, she had a dream of Mark where he was driving a car, comforting her, but then a light blinds him after he looks away and an accident ends him. Where will Alex go in regards to the story? The present doesn’t leave me with many clues, but hopefully her past with Mark can provide a clue for her future.
Josh Hunt, M, 29 (Missy’s brother) – Like Charlotte, how is this guy still alive right now? He’s a really likable guy, but Episode 4 has shown me that his cancer has taken a turn for the worse and he could be very close to dying already. It’s really heartbreaking to have to see him go through this, but at the same time, what hope does he really have? It would be a miracle if he is still alive after the midseason finale.
Aria Luna, F, 21 – As popular as Aria has been to other people in this blog series, I didn’t really care much for her. She hasn’t done anything to make me care for her. That is… until this past episode where we got to see HER past. Reading that part about her father actually woke me up in the middle of the night with a pain in my chest because it was THAT scary. Aria is well-developed for 4 episodes, but she needs another side to her for me to love her as a character. Right now, I only like her, but Episode 6 WAS a step in the right direction for her.
Mac Anderson, M, 19 (Kate’s brother) – Out of Mac’s group, Mac is really only one I care for that is still alive. He had a scare in Episode 4 just like Kara, but at least he came out of it okay, though I can’t say the same thing for his sister. He’s going to need Molly for support now that he no longer has Kate. I can also imagine he would never be able to forgive his mother after that happening.
Molly Smith, F, 19 (Mac’s best friend) – Same as how Molly didn’t care for Kate, I don’t really care for Molly right now. That being said, she shares the spotlight with Mac, and for Mac to cope with and move on from Kate’s death, this is where Molly is going to be needed moving forward. Honestly, I think a romance between Molly and Mac could still very well happen, but who knows? But Molly does need to become her own person instead of just a side for Mac.
Sharon Anderson, F, 40 (Mac and Kate’s mother) – As of right now, it would be a miracle if Sharon ever gets her son’s forgiveness. That being said, I can see where her anger comes from now. Her past story from when she and Mac’s father broke up has really shattered her and it seems she hasn’t done a good enough job of moving on from it. If Mac and Sharon do become a team, it will show that Sharon is finally moving on properly from the life she has had to live while raising her children. If Mac and Sharon continue to have this divide though that I predict they will have, Sharon will have a chance to become her own person and find another way to cope with her losses.
Natalie Smith, F, 18 (Olivia’s sister) – Natalie is the big sister to Olivia, and she seems to be a protective sort of girl. I can get that. She wants to keep herself AND Olivia safe. Her chances of survival are greater than her sister’s, but if she wants to become a player in this story, she will need some time to grow without Olivia.
Olivia Smith, F, 16 (Natalie’s sister) – She had a real injury that really hinders her chances here. However, she HAS been able to muster the energy to escape the horde of walkers from that sewer scene, so maybe we’ll see her survive too. Who knows? I think Olivia can become a great character to follow should she be able to deal with her injuries.
Kale, Charity, Kol, and NaOnka will not appear in this assessment, but would appear in the next one if they are introduced in Episodes 7 or 8.
Even before those pics got posted, I've never had a problem with Pegasus1234. She sometimes posted some pretty interesting blogs before and we all got a good laugh about it.
At the same time though, it's because she's revealed herself that reminds me of why I couldn't care about most people on Tengaged. Because some people act like fucking idiots on the Blogs Page, which is probably the reason I ignore most of the blogs that get posted on a daily basis.
