Survivor 29 Episode 1 Review

3rdSep 24, 2014 by Patrick319
imageMy review on tonights premiere of #survivor San Juan Del Sur. This premiere wasn't as crazy as the Cagayan premiere, but I feel like we've gotten a nice mellow start to the season. I have high hopes based off the preview at the end of the show, and that a lot of this cast seems to have potential to keep things interesting, but there's still potential for this to turn into a South Pacific so I'll be cautious with how excited I get.

Firstly, LOL @ Nadiya actually being voted out. I was genuinely shocked, which rarely happens, and I really don't know how to feel about it. I love the Twinnies but I haven't really brought any pre-show bias surrounding them, or major opinions of them from TAR into this season of Survivor as most fans on the Internet (not just Tengaged), have. A lot of people are upset at Nadiyas boot. I honestly don't care as much as I thought I would. The twinnies made no impact on me at all during that premiere, and plus I'm glad that #KINGDALE the #FIREGOD stayed. That doesn't mean I don't want Natalie to go far though. With Nadiya gone, I actually want Natalie to go far to a) avenge her sister, and hopefully keep things interesting, and b) so that we can at least keep some twinnie vibes in the season, even though I wasn't totally feeling them tonight.

Any ways, onto the rest of the premiere. Jeremy definitely got a pimped edit, and I don't think the duel with his wife was the only reason for it, as they showed Jeremy running around trying to create alliances at camp, and plotting on what he wanted to do with Keith. I think Jeremy is going to become a big character this season, and will be one of Jeffs favourites. Also LOL @ him trying to create an all girls alliance on Hunahpu? I really hope that works out. Val also served as a nice addition to the storyline. She definitely had some character-shaping moments from not reading the Idol clue to Keith, to wanting to form a girls alliance at Coyopa, but everything seemed strictly situational, so I don't know what her chances are. Right now, she's in the Coyopa minority, and I hope she manages to recover.

John Rockers edit has also begun, and even though he wasn't a major character this episode, I'm 100% sure he will become OTTNN very soon, and I hope they show us a lot of Julie to compliment the John-storyline. We got one really good Julie confessional tonight about Drew, so I really think she has the potential to surprisingly deliver some entertaining commentary, and possibly emotional insight (preview spoiler?) on any antics that John might cause in the coming future, which I'm sure he will.

As for everyone else, the blondes were both INV, surprise! Jon got some emotional stuff about his dad, boring. Missy & Baylor were pretty UTR, even though Baylor was basically in a position of power on Coyopa. Reed gives me major Frankie vibes, and they're setting up Josh as a major strategist/player I'm assuming.

Also, Keith > Wes. I actually liked Keith. He's basically Rick (South Pacific) with a personality you would expect from him, that is actually being somewhat fleshed out.

Keith, Baylor, Jeremy f3 plz

aiwfwyattroh It's definitely got me speculating. It was pretty vague as to the exact direction the season might take as all the clips were random dramatic snippets, but I do feel the potential, and it's gotten me imagining scenarios that could unfold.

yes wes i feel like won't do all that great, at least i don't want him to, he seems like he will be annoying. i find it funny you think reed is the one more like frankie, i would think josh was, at least in my opinion. i also feel like this season is going to suck, i don't really see to many big personalities on each tribe, so i don't feel like there will be a big fight for control. or any big blow outs. maybe they are trying to set jeremy up as russell? i mean they both tried/had an al girls alliance. but i don't think he will be as ruthless. patrick319

obscurity Julie is like the not awful version of Monica Culpepper.

aquamarine that's probably the stupidest thing i've ever heard
i don't care that you don't like monica but congrats on having a stupidly simplistic view of survivor characters considering they are not really similar at all besides their husbands

i'm sure you think val is LITERALLY cirie too

superman11 Reed literally has Frankies face so maybe that's why I was getting those vibes, even though I think Josh might be more like Frankie strategically. But I honestly think Reed will end up playing similarly any ways.
Sent by Patrick319,Sep 25, 2014
patrick319 oh ok i think they both will play similar to the way frankie did, maybe reed will be more out there and josh will be the more layer back version of frankie lol
