I know Steve winning has left a bad taste in most of our mouths, including mine, but I don't see the comparisons between their games. They were both cast as the typical "nerd". The similarity ends there.
Steve was totally clueless and lost for half the season, not knowing a thing about the house dynamic until Vanessa took him under her wing and carried him into the Jury phase and beyond. On the other hand Joel has literally NEVER been in the minority and has been fully aware of the house dynamic since Week 1. It's true that Steve and Joel shared a similar "middle man" position, but the difference is that Steve fell into that role unintentionally and really had no desire to ever work with Jackie/Meg/James at all even if it would have benefited him whereas Joel actively and knowingly played both sides, seducing the entire house into trusting him.
Remember when Loveita practically lived in Joel's HOH room and they were literally best friends? Loveita was treated like the spawn of Satan in the house, yet nobody associated Joel with her? Everyone waited for Joel downstairs with open arms, wanting him on their side. Joel managed to successfully play both sides (Dallas/Loveita vs Jared/Kelsey) from the middle, both sides knowing what Joel was doing, yet still trusting him. What kind of slay?
He also managed to solidify a Final 3 with Mitch and Loveita at that point, being able to receive intel from both sides as Loveita and Mitch were both associated with opposing sides. Joel was the reason "the middle" were informed on information from BOTH SIDES because Cass/Tim/Brothers were all closer to the Jared side than they were to Loveita.
Also Joel was you know... a good person. He's a lot more mature than Steve and he treated everyone respectfully, particularly Loveita who was a house pariah.
So stop comparing Joel to Steve beyond their superficial appearance because Joel killed this season and SLAYS.
Ugh I'm so torn. I want Cassandra to win but Joel is great too. I want Cass to survive this week so bad though, even if it means Joel going home. It's probably hopeless for her at this point but we'll see...
steve was a cunt and constantly just told people what they wanted to hear. he also played up being clueless/naive too much that it got annoying. he got really lucky in the game and the only tight alliance he had was vanessa/johnny mack. he was a floater for 90% of the game
I don't understand why people compare him to Steve, just because their both dorky guys with glasses doesn't mean anything???
It's like saying all black people are similar, which is racist and judging people based on their appearances.
i agree with this blog. I was mad at the beginning when I saw joel because of the whole steve thing, but he has completely turned my opinion around and i hope he wins. (STEVE STILL FUCKING SUCKS THOUGH AND DIDNT DESERVE HIS WIN)
