And it is really making me feel some type of way about some people, ngl. But I think it was WELL done. But I am disappointed that Netflix didn't contact the victim's families FIRST before proceeding with this project
Seriously though, I am truly DISGUSTED with how poorly handled some of the officials 'handled' this whole situation (if we even want to call it that because they literally didn't really do shit and more young men continued to be victims of Dahmer). They marginalized and ignored people because of their of their sexual orientation and race, point blank.
The system really failed the victims, the victim's families, and the people who TRIED to speak up about Dahmer's (odd) behavior. Imagine how many lives could have been saved if they had tried to listen/pay attention? Dahmer’s own family suffered (I mean like seriously, wth). I'm sure his parents couldn't even look at themselves in the mirror (trigger warning - but his mother unfortunately made an attempt at taking her own life… and I think his brother ended up changing his name which I don't even blame him for.) The system failed them all and then some
And even though it’s 2022 now, the system hasn’t really changed all that much. It’s all just very telling
If anyone is debating watching it, then I want to be honest: it is a lot to take in. Netflix really kind of went there. But I think it was kind of necessary so that we, as the viewers, could really ‘see’ what happened. This miniseries is not for the faint of heart, but I really do recommend it
