Feels like a Monday . . . and on conspiracy

May 27, 2008 by umfooanoo
I always hate the three day weekends--makes Tuesday feel like Monday.  And it doesn't help that here in Wisconsin it's 40 outside.  Mind you, yesterday it was 80.  Fickle weather.

I'm having a really interesting experience in my two most recent games.  In one of them, it seems that there is conspiracy afoot.  I wish I were part of the conspiracy, but I fear that I am the target.  Any obscure comment I make gets at least two negative votes.

I haven't learned the ins and outs of this game as of yet, but I cannot anticipate this having a good ending for those voting my comments negatively.  Or, I will be up for elimination in the next day or so.  It's amusing, actually, because based on the amounts of comments by others, I think I have figured out who is doing it.

I figure that if you aren't bothering to speak, then you probably aren't spending a great amount of time voting other people's comments up or down.  So that would mean that other people involved in the conversation are placing the negative votes.  Ironically, those same people seem to be maintaining a positive 'score' based on my research.

Here's how I figure it.  There are ten of us.  One of us has been eliminated.  That person commented only four times.  I am guessing they weren't just watching and voting, so they are kind of out of the picture.  That leaves just nine of us.  Eight if you don't count me, since I cannot vote for my own comments.  I am in the lead right now, if you were to add up all of my positive and negative marks.  The equal a negative 7.  Everyone else is in the negative 2-5.

Except for three people.  They, I feel are the conspirators.  Voting positively for themselves--negatively for everyone else.  Their marks average a positive 2-7 points.

Now, I know this isn't how the game is tallied, but if I were to make an educated guess, I would venture to say that these people in the positive are getting all of our pluses, since we aren't in on the conspiracy, plus the ones from their co-conspirators.  Interestingly enough, one of the people in the positive is up for elimination.  Now this person talks a lot, so it leads me to believe that unfounded negative votes are the cause of his demise.

Seems like conspiring against your fellow players is not a way to win.

But, what do I know?

Comments

I noticed the exact same thing, hence my PM a day or so ago. It'll be interesting to see what happens, but I've definitely seen some of my +2 comments jump to -2 so...

I've had that same thing gooing on, and i think it's more a random thing than anything.  i've just seen a random "i'm sorry" style comment to go to -3 or so.  i'm thinking they just hate the queen or something stupid like that.

I find it really irritating when I KNOW who is leaving negative feedback and I call them  out on it only to have them outright lie and say, "Look I just left you positive!" (That's a -1, deary, not a +1. *grr*)

I don't have enough Karma to have any significant conspirators against me like you do, but geeze.  I guess it's the way the game works, though.  Heh.

If I ever play again, I'm going to immediately form a "team" so we can beat down the rest and win. Muahah. :)
