because I brought my boyfriend home over the weekend to meet my grandparents for the first time (we've been dating for over 2 years now) and ive always been very nervous abt doing so. Not that my grandparents have ever been homophobic to me , but they're strict catholics who were born in the 40s so obviously their view on sexuality is a bit different than mine. I've had boyfriends in the past and it's never been a point of a discussion whereas they were always asking my straight siblings about their relationships.
ANYWAY today was my Grandpa's birthday so I called him and he brought up my boyfriend and told me how nice he thought he was and said that he really liked him and i SERIOUSLYYYY have been teary eyed since. It was literally a two sentence conversation but this is the first time it has ever happened and I never thought I would ever have a conversation like this with my grandparents :'). Shoutout to my 80 year old grandparents who have loved me every second of my life who r amazing and still learning to this day <3
I’ve been with my partner over 5 years and it took several years for anyone in the family to give us the time of day hut always amp up the heteros and their monthly flings in the family, I can totally relate
