With the Bottom 100 picked out, it is time to begin the list. There were some Pokemon that were hard to put over others, and others I think were probably a victim of circumstance. Anyway, here is the 5 Pokemon that will be kicking off the list. Enjoy!
100. Dusknoir – Now, I know Dusknoir looks cool, and I love its cry. But there is one thing in particular that I could not ignore about Dusknoir, and that is, if you pick a computer ally for the Battle Maison, Dusknoir is treacherous! Since its moves are all status moves if you are aligned with one at the Battle Maison, yes, he will inflicted status moves on your opponents such as Burn or Paralysis, but guess what! He also does it to you too! It’s a great defensive Pokemon, don’t get me wrong. I just like Pokemon I have or Pokemon my ally has to NOT try to kill me. That’s all I ask of you Dusknoir.
99. Unfezant – Here is your only regional bird to make this list. I’m not a huge fan of Swellow either, but I found that I was just disappointed with Unfezant, especially since, to me anyway, Tranquill was the much more memorable Pokemon in that line. It’s really telling when your middle evolution makes you kind of forget about its final form and you’re left disappointed.
98. Huntail – Of Clamperl’s evolutions, Gorebyss far outshines Huntail in design. In fact, I don’t really like Huntail’s design at all. It’s too bleh for me to really care about it. But that’s really its only reason for even being on the list besides being forgettable.
97. Barbaracle – Barbaracle is basically on the same boat as Huntail, except this is the only final form we get of Binacle. I do give this points for being used by Siebold of the Kalos Elite Four, but remember, this is SIEBOLD who uses it, the guy who will yell at you if you answer “No” to his question he asks you at the Pokemon League right before you face him.
96. Unown – This was gonna appear somewhere on here, but you’re probably wondering how this isn’t much further down the list, maybe towards the end. Well, let’s begin with why it’s even here in the first place. Its only move in the main games is Hidden Power, which can be learned by a LOT of Pokemon now, making Unown useless. Its stats suck balls too. So, it’s an infamous Pokemon. But now let’s get into why it’s not any higher on the list. Of all the gimmicks you can give Unown, the alphabet thing actually really appealed to me when this first came out. Even to this day I can see them being used for really interesting spooky purposes. I also watched Pokemon 3 a lot as a 10-year-old (that’s about when this came out), so Unown was pretty relevant to me at the time. And one last thing. You know how it only has Hidden Power? Well, in fan-made games, you can actually buff that up a little. It is the perfect Pokemon to give Custom Moves to, AND in Pokemon Zeta/Omicron, it can learn the HM move Tesseract, which is needed to get to the final stage of the Vesryn Region. So yeah, these reasons keep Unown from being any higher on the list, but as much as I wanted to leave Unown alone, it couldn’t stay out of the list entirely.
So the I have decided the Bottom 20 for each region of Pokemon and the list will likely begin today. Now, since only 100 out of a possible 721 Pokemon can be on the list, you don't know which Pokemon could be on here. BUT I am going to give a list of Pokemon that probably won't be on the list.
Do not expect...
Grimer or Muk - They weren't even on the shortlist despite being blobs
Voltorb or Electrode - They weren't even on the shortlist despite their designs
Jynx - I like Jynx too much to even put it on the initial shortlist
any of the initial bug Pokemon from Johto - they weren't even on the shortlist
Zigzagoon or Linoone - Despite being Hoenn's obligatory rat line, I actually really like these Pokemon, so they were nowhere NEAR the shortlist.
Plusle or Minun - Neither of these Pikachu copies offended me as much as some other ones
Emogla - Same reason as Plusle and Minun
Lickilicky - There is a redeeming feature I like about this Pokemon that kept it from the initial shortlist
The Tepig line - Despite Pignite having gotten on the initial shortlist, none of these 3 Pokemon offended me enough to make me want to put them here. Even Pignite stayed out of the Bottom 20 needed to qualify for the list.
The Vanillish line - I actually don't mind the ice cream Pokemon, so they're practically on the same boat as the Tepig line
The legendary Genies - If you played Gen 5, you know who those are. Their Therian Formes kept them from even being on the shortlist, and I actually love Therian Thundurus.
And that's about that for who NOT to expect on the list. The list proper will begin once I decide which 100 will be on the list. I am currently in the process of making the final cuts, some of those cuts possibly being Dishonorable Mentions.
Because with Sun/Moon coming out, why not? This is a list I can actually finish, so yeah, PYN if you wanna be tagged. I have already mailed myself a shortlist and am currently making the cuts I need to come up with the list. Once I finish, then I can begin the list.
Rules for making this list:
- It's my list, so they are my personal opinion. If you don't like it, don't bash me for it as it is not intended to make you change your opinions on these Pokemon, so you like any of them, that's fine. Make your own list if you truly disagree with something.
- I am not putting more than 20 from any region, but the Bottom 5 for each region ARE to be included on the list.
- There will be 5 Pokemon in each blog, so this will be 20 blogs. I may do a Dishonorable Mentions.
And that's all there is to it. :) Like I said, I am actually going to try to finish this list, so PYN to be tagged.
Deathly Hallows Part 2
Goblet of Fire
Prisoner of Azkaban
Deathly Hallows Part 1
Order of the Phoenix
Half-Blood Prince
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets
5th and 6th place are interchangeable and all of them are good, even Chamber which I felt was much too weak compared to the others.
