I am writing this blog to address a matter that has been brought to our attention today relating to the consistency of bans, specifically those concerning Account Sharing.
First and foremost, I would like to apologize on behalf of the moderation team for any inconsistencies that have occurred during our times as moderators. We realize that our lack of clarity in the past may have led to some confusion and potential feelings of unfairness. This has never been our intention and it is our goal to treat all bans equally.
Recently, 3 day bans were issued to #MmabatlokoaMolefe, #jeriber, #SashaBaby2010, and #NotNicky333 for various forms of Account Sharing/Cheating. This ban duration was less than what has been previously given for first offences in some cases. We assure you that this discrepancy was not related to the individuals involved, but rather to do varying interpretations of the rules by different moderators. In particular, #MmabatlokoaMolefe's role as a Game Coordinator had nothing to do with the original ban length.
All bans put in place in the past 24 hours for account sharing are being reviewed for length to reflect today's rule change. #MmabatlokoaMolefe will remain at the now-extended 7 days ban due to the account's ban history. Additionally, we have collectively decided to keep the current bans for #jeribear, #SashaBaby2010, and #NotNicky333 at 3 days, but also add a 7 day orange nose to each account. We understand that this approach is not perfect, but have further details on how we plan to address this going forward below. As a reminder, an orange nose limits the account of a user and restricts them from blogging, joining games, and betting on games. It also limits removes an account's voting power (blogs, designs, votes do not count in Stars/group game polls).
In order to rectify this situation and ensure consistency going forward, we have revised our ban policies as follows:
- Any ban for account sharing will START at 7 days for the first offence. A second offence will lead to a 14-day ban, while a 3rd offence will result in a 30-day ban. Any additional offences beyond that may lead to permanent bans, which is a decision that will be discussed more thoroughly among moderators.
- Additionally, this 7-day ban for first offences will now apply to ALL bans that do not currently specify a permanent ban as the first offence. This includes bans for harassment and homophobic, racist or otherwise overly offensive remarks.
Our aim is to ensure fairness going forward. If you have been impacted by the inconsistencies for bans in the past, we would like to apologize for that. We will continue to work to address this situation and ensure a more consistent approach going forward.
NOTE REGARDING GAMES COORDINATORS: I have seen a number of blogs in the past ~24 hours regarding the current Game Coordinators. The Tengaged Advisory Council as a whole was my personal project and it has had a few iterations at this point, each of which has not worked as planned. I will post a blog later on that discusses the future of those roles and look for feedback regarding the structure. Keep your eyes peeled for that blog.
Does that mean we should get compensation for our first time offenses that were unfair and unjust in punishments??? I believe we should!

Why someone with such an extensive ban history is a games coordinator is beyond my comprehension. Seems silly to award them with a title when they are constantly breaking rules.
