The purpose of this blog is because the moderation team would like to open a discussion about a POTENTIAL addition to our moderation team. Before proceeding, I want to CLEARLY specify that we are only at the stage of CONSIDERING this possibility. Any final approval regarding an addition to the team (and who specifically that may be) will be made by randomize.
With that in mind, we do believe that your thoughts and recommendations will be important in shaping the decision. We want to poll you all about the following:
- Are there any specific qualities you believe would be a necessary addition to the team?
- Should we limit the search in any way? Consider things like how long the person has been on Tengaged.
- Are there any specific members of the community you think would be a good fit? Please do not recommend yourself.
We invite you all to share your recommendations by replying to this blog. Feel free to engage with others and have discussions on the blogs page publicly (tag us so we see it!). We want this to be an open and public discussion, so please do not reach out to us privately unless absolutely necessary.
PLEASE NOTE: Reaching out to any of the three moderators to discuss this is likely to result in us not responding. None of us will single-handedly make this decision. The decision isn't an easy one and trying to advocate for yourself continuously does not make it any easier for anyone involved. Our intention is to make this decision in the most transparent way possible, which is why we would like discussion about it to remain public at all times.
We look forward to hearing your valuable opinions and recommendations! If you have any questions, comment below.
Some points of clarification based on comments made so far:
- randomize will not be "selecting" the moderator in that he is not about to make a random decision as was done in the past. It will be made based on recommendations from the three current moderators (as was the case for the addition of koolness234 and I). He obviously has the power to say no to somebody, though.
- There is not about to be a "mod election." The Tengaged public will not be asked to select the moderator, but will just be consulted about our process in selecting that person.
I think it would be interesting moderators of different nationalities on the team. A Brazilian, for example. Because this site seems to be segregated at times and having easier communication with someone from your country would be interesting (it would also facilitate the verification of improper acts, for example: comments of racism, homophobia and others).
I do think the search should be limited for some things
I don’t know if this sounds ridiculous but someone who’s never been banned (even if temporary) ? I don’t know if there’s many people who fit that but i assume some? I don’t believe i’ve been banned except for a requested ban once.
I think limiting it to people who have obeyed the rules for their time on TG is a wise decision. Or maybe if they haven’t been banned since like pre-modless era.
I think that a new moderator should possess qualities that are more care focused rather than like legacy focused. For example, people’s track record (Merge Streaks, Stars Wins, and Shops Status.) should NOT be considered. While things like giving back to their community should. I would recommend people like GirlInRed because of their stare blogs. BooyahHayoob for because of his dedication to running the Stars Discord servers. Or maybe like a TempoNeptune for her 100 Days of Voting series. I think y’all would pick someone that would actually care to represent their community, and someone who wouldn’t just be in it for the title.
I think it would be good to have moderators representing the Brazilian and Spanish communities. Or moderators in different time zone. And a female on board.
I have previous mod experience, so I think experience and maturity is a must, as well as a level head
But yeah what Delano said we need somebody with Spanish language and culture and Portuguese language / Brazilian culture to appropriately determine racism and acts of harassment with said languages
I also agree with the different nationalities being represented. Maybe someone like SemNome based on the fact he can speak both Portuguese and Spanish.
I believe it’s important that a moderator has good morals and treats others with respect. You don’t want for them to abuse their powers and do things like ban people for sharing their own opinions. I believe you should choose someone who usually treats others in a respectful manner, but is also impartial to the point where their friendships with others doesn’t affect their MOD duties.
Honestly, nmh95. He is an INCREDIBLE person to talk with whenever you need something, super kind, and he doesn't really have problems with a lot of tengagers (?). He is someone that I think in all honesty the mod team would be able to trust. 3pi14159 is also a viable option, but I am not sure about how he is with other gagers. I think overall, you should pick someone who is unbiased.
Don’t want some random ass voting thing that turns into a spam contest.
Randomize having final say is also questionable cause we were lucky you guys got picked and are normal people, but there was literally crazy ass people chosen before you guys.
i would like to reiterate semnome. if we were to add two (which i think may be a good idea... odd numbers are always better imo), i would select another .es or .br user OR kindred7
i would say someone apart of the "TAC" (RIP) or someone who has been of any sort of power and didn't seem to abuse it.
someone that has been around the site
someone who is "mature" I wouldn't trust any teenager with a stressful position at all.
I agree that it needs to be someone bilingual at a minimum, preferably multilingual. Unfortunately I am only bilingual, so let me know when you, cheapcheep or koolness234 decide to retire.

He spilled. We should have at least one mod per domain
I don't know who would necessarily be a good fit for the position, but I do think given the large non-native English speaking users on this website, adding a moderator that would be easier for this base to communicate with would be a good idea.
Yes there should be someone who fits the following categories:
- Good activity level
- English not first language
- As unbiased as possible
- Will perm ban Kiki

I think it should be someone who is very active in the community and has been here for at LEAST 5+ years. Someone who will not be biased. Someone the mods feel they can trust. Maybe someone who has experience moderating something before (like a chat or something). Has never been banned for harassment. Has empathy and can adapt quickly. Kind yet firm. Honest. 18+.
i think we should have a team of several mods who specialize in diff areas to take the burden off of the only 3 mods ex. multis, harassment, pedos, etc.
I think it’s a good idea and it would be good to have someone active and maybe in a unique timezone compared to the current mods.
Kinda unrelated but someone who actively plays the games and could have the influence to improve them, but I appreciate that’s basically impossible to achieve
I agree with more representation from .es and/or .br. Any new additions need to be individuals that are longstanding members of the community. I believe any behavioral issues, whether bannable or not, should be taken into heavy consideration as well. Someone who is invested in the website and its success rather than a popular figure that is just going to look out for their friends.
We dont need mods who speak spanish or portuguese. The communities are small and they know each other and it’d just make these people be bias towards their group of friends.
-not connected to any groups or cliques
-not involved in any drama
-no negative top blogs about others, maybe not even known on the blogs page in general
-has been here for a long time & is active, yet is disconnected from any group
im aware many of those qualities are the opposite of me, but itd mostly ensure a nonbiased and fair mod.
Very insightful comments and great conversation starters!
I have a few names in mind but above all, representation matters and having a moderator without a language barrier is extremely important. If someone like SemNome is multilingual, that’s a huge plus!
I would like to name Druhhbby2 as a moderator! She calls out people who are transphobic with legal evidence and I believe the best way to handle toxicity is for a mod to give them a warning and if it happens again they would be banned for a bit.. or when they come back from a ban if behavior persists then kick them out of tengaged. That being said, a good moderator needs to have good morals and cares about the community without any negative drama. She's someone who has been on tengaged for about 8 years and she's the person to do it!
I also think it's important if we have a multilingual mod as WE HAVE people in the website that don't speak English or struggle at it. I know some of my friends from tengaged Brazil left the website because of that barrier.
I don't know if there is anyone that fits and has enough time though.
Suggestions:
brunodrads Lucas_RFS (maybe he is the best choice for the Brazilian community as he has more time available and I have never seen him being disrespectful to other players). iCristian
The most important qualification I think is that the person is active and still has a passion for Tengaged games. What we are lacking most is someone to do special games and such.
Also someone with a history of not being in drama. We definitely need someone that won’t be biased in decision making.
Ban people for treating special needs with disabilities, autism & Down syndrome like attacking, threatening/bullying them & falsely accusing them for harassment
Thank you so much to the people who have recommended me, but I do agree with others that it should be someone who speaks multiple languages just so everyone can feel safe on Tengaged. <3
