- Jackson has taken the infection off the island... the boat he was on must've got to Malaysia... or been picked up and taken there... thus infecting people... causing the death of 15,000 people in the space of two weeks... its clearly spread further but it hasn't been reported, as individuals arriving from abroad have now brought the virus to America... so its out there in the world...

- Janus mentioned a vaccine... so presumably the company he works for has a cure... and are going to make money out of some sort of vaccine to help prevent it

- As stated in dialogue, one of the purposes of the virus is a biological weapon...)
