The lottery stars thing is brilliant because we could just do that every week and limit premades outright. Then we’d not really have to hear much about that depending on the number of people who sign up.
Not to say we’re doing that, but it would make for some very random stars casts & make joining in big groups a lot more difficult!
The game would always just have to start 12 hours to a day earlier.

Do it Kris its best for this site to stop boring premades
austinrules6969 there wouldn’t be any bans in a regular game. The bans at the beginning were always the idea. The original rules implied: GAME BEFOREHAND and get ready to place your noms ASAP when enrolled into the game.
1. not everyone was banned in the same moment. some people had significantly more (a few minutes) times to lock in their noms. this limits that
2. whether or not they know they're getting enrolled or not, people have jobs and live in different spots across the world. even if i had strategized or wanted to just throw in some hail mary noms, it was physically impossible for me (and others in the game) to get online until after the ban has already occurred
3. it makes no difference to how the game runs other than giving everyone a fair chance to lock in
i know you said in comments this week you haven't gotten defensive about this, but between this comment and you on typhlosion's blog going on about how you're not an algorithm and no game you've ever played has been perfect, i don't see how you can say that. like....okay but every org i've played was significantly cleaner in organization and guaranteed to have a production member on for big events (i.e. evictions, crowning winners of competitions).
like cool, that's fine that's what the original rules were. i'm very aware and typing "game beforehand" in all capital letters won't change that. i'm just telling you that, from a player's perspective (and i don't think you need to have a player's perspective to see this) the having an undisclosed amount of time to lock in the first day was easily the worst part of the experience and something that can and should be changed the next time you do this. it's just not at all necessary to have this added hurdle to jump over, especially for people who can't control if they have access to tengaged.com at 6/5 est on a saturday they get randomly drawn to be in a game.
also also the original blog says "It’s feasible that on Day 1 the cast could lock noms quickly before being banned."
sure i guess that IMPLIES this like you said, but don't you think it makes much more sense on....every level to have rules that are clearly stated and not implied? like yall were like HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW THIS SO OBVIOUS!!!! when the most that's said about it is it's "feasible"
and again i still just don't think it's necessary like, even if it was abundantly clear, i think it would be a super pointless feature that does more to hurt the game than help it like people literally can't guarantee they're going to be online and it does not in any way need to be this way like... you can change things to make them better and more accessible for people that's just going to A) get people more invested and B) create a better experience for your players
i've bit my tongue about my feelings that you're being defensive and taking any criticism of the twist/game personally because i do really like you and don't wanna hurt your feelings, but i'm telling you there's literally no positive that comes from that feature of the game and the way you've replied to any criticism of this game is WEIRD like by the end of the week people liked it. just accept it could be better and take the criticism from the people who want to help you
austinrules6969 no doubt the game could’ve been better! It can always be better. I’m sorry if it seems that I’m being defensive/not accepting criticism. I have only attempted to share my point of view on a few separate occasions, which may have come off as being defensive. However, that’s not the intention! I’m literally just explaining myself lol.
Again, without trying to be defensive and just explaining why it was the way it was, whilst also taking your criticism, which will be applied to future games, just as past criticism has been considered when planning this game, the reason why it was set up that way was to fit with the luck theme. It was lottery stars. That’s why people got banned at the very beginning, whether they had noms locked or not.
krisStory I say do that once a month or even every 3 months or whatever works! But doing it every week would really be tough for some of the mods and rightfully living a real life too.
I do think there are people who could have helped made it smoother. You and typhlosion are so dedicated to this site. Moreso than anyone else imo. That’s not a dig but a fact. I was sorta disappointed at the beginning bc I know how obsessed typhlosion is with stars and the fact it started off so poorly turned ME away from it and I know others felt that way too.
BUT I’m glad y’all are acknowledging and it will def be better moving forward. Just the fact y’all are engaging with the public is a huge step forward.
I would recommend tho when y’all make these blogs that you quit blaming the entire cast for not knowing rules. You both can be very long winded with rules and explanations. So the fact typhlosion’s stance has been “well it was in sentence 7 of paragraph 8” in a 15 paragraph, 2000 word explanation of how the game would work is a really shitty way to not take accountability still.
As a host of one of the most successful special games ever, I do understand what goes into it behind the scenes so I appreciate the effort. I just would also advise to be careful about addressing the majority of TG bc it comes off arrogant and cocky IMO.
Anyways, I look forward to the next one and maybe I’ll get to play!
I also feel that when special stars come around and everyone throws their name in, people that have played a special stars in the last year, since there are so few, should not be able to take part.
