Recent events have brought the topic of racism to the forefront of Tengaged discussions, and the moderation team (including Randomize) has come to the following decision regarding all FUTURE cases of racism on this site:
Racism is one of the things we take extremely seriously on Tengaged. In the real world, if you did attacked someone with racist comments at a job, you would be fired, point blank. That is how seriously racism is taken, not just here but in our society.
While the current cases have already been dealt with and closed, we are making this announcement so there will be no question about FUTURE cases.
From now on, racism will be punished the same way users are punished for posting pornography - a PERMANENT ban. Homophobia falls in the same category.
Yes, there will always be some degree of subjectivity in relation to the severity of the offense, but don't test us. We are making this statement, so consider yourselves warned.
We hope all of Tengaged understands the seriousness of this offense and that racist attacks will be taken very, very seriously.
One man's racism is another man's cultural slang.

Quite right. I do hope people get to defend their actions before a judgement is passed at least, I know some of the stuff I've said have been misinterpreted in the past when all it was was some old Aussie slang.
We also take homophobic comments seriously. Depending on their severity, the first offense usually results in a warning but we won't hesitate to ban people for serous and threatening homophobic remarks.
Our blog about racism was in response to a specific incident that created major controversy; however, this is not to say that we don't take homophobia seriously.
In the near future, the moderation team will be announcing more specific rules to clarify these punishments, but for the time being it should be simple: Do not attack people for their race, sexual preference, religious beliefs, etc. This is clearly stated in the TOS, so just don't do it.

This actually really doesn't make sense. First you would need to define what you consider racism, and then you need to establish the parameters and differences between racism and ignorance. If I don't know about something because I don't know a certain race, am I a "racist"?
