Dispelling popular ideas

Aug 24, 2008 by Vindication
Now, I’m probably going to get a lot of flak for going against a few popular opinions, but  I don’t care. I see a lot of blog’s and what not of game suggestions, to improve the current system. Many of which are popular, but I don’t agree with them whatsoever. This blog is on why, that is.

The first one is having little mini-games, to determine HOH and veto holders. This pretty much cannot work. This game is too big. For any flash type game to work, it’s likely to be a ONE player score. Someone playing a game of snake by themselves, and than registering there point total. It’s just mess. I can’t even make sense of this. The idea is meh, but it CANNOT happen. Many people don’t realize that his is a STRATEGY game, and nothing more. While the real BB may have games to decide HOH and vetos, it’s not possible here, in my opinion.

Another one, is having a jury with a final two. This is stupid, to be honest. If you think about it, there is a jury. From what I understand, the positives you get from other members of the house, helps you win in the end. I can’t imagine, having 6 bitter house guests come back to decide the winner, who would only vote for there friends or who they felt wronged by. On the real show, it’s different. They are in the flesh, and they actually vote on game strategy for the most part. This is the internet, and judgment would be CLEARLY distorted through the web. The way the point system is set up, there is already a jury set in place, think about it.

That’s all I have for now. This blog is long enough. I have a few suggestions though, which are possible to make. I don’t know, if tengage will pick up on them, but at least the opinion would be voiced. Let the flame war begin!

I fully agree with you.
We thought about the mini-games some time ago as some how it has been requested many times. As you point out it would move from a "strategy" game to a more casual-arcade one. We want Tengaged to be a full "social game" where the social skills are your only weapons, and that's why Tengaged is different from any other site.
"Casting", "Rookies",.. and new ones yet-to-arrive games are only part of it, as the real game is Tengaged itself, Don't you think that writing a blog may affect positively or negatively on Tengaged?, It really does.
In short future we will add rating to blogs and people, popularity indicators, groups, etc. But always with "social strategy" in mind.

I am glad to read your post and hope to hear from you again.

I COMPLETELY AGREE. You know your never gonna get votes from an 11 year old who got voted out as a jury member. (11 year olds think they are cool cause they can curse online)

But i Do howver believe there should be a different way of choosing HOH and POV. Maybe the website could post a puzzle or something. Whoever completes it first wins.

I'm new to this site, so still getting a feel for it, but do have some ideas to throw out there:

1) Maybe vote for the HoH?  That way the most popular pick has to nominate and then is kinda forced to choose people who may have picked them to be HoH.  Although this could lend to blocks of people registering for a game and dominating, maybe it could be just for one round.

2) If there were competions maybe they could be social ones?  Like where the housemates have to vote for 'most likely to.." or "A or B" or "Majority/Minority" and winner is awarded HoH or POV?

3)  I kinda got this idea from ABC's THE MOLE, but maybe one round people have to pick someone who is exempt from eviction?

Thanks for starting this blog, Vindication!

Hey, Grayson. Welcome to the site, good to have someone bringing something postive too it. The biggest problem with this game, is the inactives. They tend to be carried through to the next rounds, simply because they're not a threat. And while I must have admit it, I've done that on ocasion. I never keep an INACTIVE over my OWN allience memebers. I've been on the block twice in the this game, and I've been eliminated both times, simply because I'm a ''Threat'' and the inactive is not. Even to my own allience. It's sad, and it's unfortunate. I think the best thing this site could do, is hide the postive votes one gets making it viewable only to the person who's getting the votes. I have a few suggestions, they'll come tommarow. The one's you have are good, they just don't fit with the game itself, that's all.

Thanks for your feedback, Vindication.  I think your idea of having the positives' counts hidden makes a lot of sense.  It almost seems ridiculous to me that we come here for the 'love of the game', but players will keep around those that aren't playing.  We had a discussion about that in my current game and it was kind of a consensus to take out those that aren't playing.  I guess when you get to Rookie level that may change a bit, because you have players that want to be there and aren't just trying it out.

Word, Grayson. But its better in rookies. Theres usually 1 or 2 in active people at the most, sometimes none. I guess being inactive (for some) is a way to fly under the radar. I see things a little different. I rather always have 6th place, then 4th. Because 4th is usually the spot, youve been carried to as an inactive. I notice people would enroll, stay un-active for a period time to come back when the game is done, to enroll in the another game. Too many people, looking out for themselves than the fun of the game. Its pathetic.
