Digital Brother Contestant Post #7

Oct 22, 2008 by smrtrtl25
Well, this is my final Digital Brother post. And how fitting that this is my seventh post and I came in seventh place. That's right folks, SEVENTH! With 22.6% of the vote, smrtrtl25 (aka mat) became the seventh evictee. Well, I was hoping that I would make it to the final, but it was pretty much set in stone that it would consist of Andy, tess, and ksax. Emma was more active than me, and I was a bit surprised to see patrix surviving, but he wasn't one that I really corresponded with. I am very relieved I beat Bubbly, meaning I beat out a popular person! Disappointed about Alex, though. A 1.2% difference, a tough race, but I still would have been gone.
...
So before I end it with my final comments about this game, a word about each contestant in order of eviction:
Bentley- Where were you? I was hoping we'd stick together, but you were never there to stick around.
Summerlynn- Very unfortunate you left. I was hoping to get to know you as you came across with a very interesting personality.
Jrxoxo8-hmmm, mixed feelings about you from inside information, but you seemed very lovely, and that's always a good characteristic.
jm101-alliance=bad! Nothing else to say...
Bowler23- Unfortunate that you took the blame and the target of many attacks. I also didn't realize you were quite famous on Tengaged.
Latina- Very disappointed. We were close as we were on together for numerous occasion (one of the few who I actually talked to frequently). I hope you enjoy the CUBE series, and hope to play with you again.
cosgrove- who were you?
Bubblyangel- You know, you are very tangy: sweet and bitter. But I think people overestimate your sweetness. You play a very cruel game, but it makes out for very enjoyable viewing. I'm scared to play against you in the future, but you did make my time in DB very enjoyable.
Alex1991-Relatively same situation like me: new to Tengaged, wants a new experience. Differences: you're too strategic. Be mellow...like jello (lemon jello, perhaps). But from what I remember of you, you're a typical player.
And as for the remaining:
Andyshields: Well, you make for a great housemate. But you seem too perfect, almost disgustingly perfect. You're the kind of peppy schoolkid who participates in everything to get noticed, but you're drawing the wrong attention. But this is all in my opinion. What ever plan you have, it works for you.
Patrix542: Who are you? I have no idea why you made it this far; you just seem to be deadweight. There wasn't much that I noticed about you, and you didn't seem to contribute a lot. Curious...
Emma: An unfortunate resident of the amazing UK, unfortunate because of our conflicting timezones. Thank you for suggesting DB to me way back in the accidental casting game. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you. But as for your contribution to DB, it seemed a bit...lacking. Sadly, I don't have anything memorable about your time in the DB. But I really wish I did...
Tess11: I really liked you. At first, I was afraid because you posed a strong threat for the win (which is why you were up for nominations earlier), but now I'm out, go tess! You are an amazing housemate: charismatic, friendly, active, and you indulge us with snippits of your personal life, but not too much as to maintain the mask. And you have an amazing sense of creativity. You were one of the highlights about playing Digital Brother, and I hope that I am given the opportunity to play with you again.
ksax00: I knew you had potential ever since I saw your application. You made for an excellent housemate, and you were the other highlight about Digital Brother along with tess. Conversations were always a joy with you, and I always felt disappointed when I had to leave. And if people wanted to get the surprise win of DB (ie, not Andy or tess because of their preconceived popularity), I definitely think you are a very high contender. Best of luck ksax, and I look forward to playing with you again.
....................................................................
So concludes my valedictory speech. And now my thoughts on Digital Brother.
When looking at my gameplay, the main detriment was inactivity. Being overwhelmed with normal life problems took a very heavy toll on Tengaged. And that mixed with a very late timezone do not make for easy gameplay. I always feared I would be evicted early for being considered a dead account. But I think I managed just fine to make it to where I am. Though I do regret not deeply knowing everyone within Digital Brother.
And looking back on my application, I felt that I didn't hold true to everything I put out. Yes, I did feel as if I was one of the more intellectual housemates of the group, but my pitiful attempts to start deep conversations failed quickly within the first few days. But you know, I think I was somewhat of an atypical housemate; how many people do you know are so stringent about grammar (hooray for the grammar police!). I also think I was the most naive of the group. I am content with my gameplay (with the except of lack of consistent activity), and therefore I am content with my position in the game.
.........................................................................
And to Jubbzy, very good idea of Digital Brother. However, you needed to give us more direction, especially in the first few days. We had no idea how to post (rooms, which were initially my idea). Also, you made for very boring gameplay and very boring viewership. You need more activities, more events to arouse drama. Digital Brother lost viewership because no stories developed within the house. But I guess this is the bad side of doing online Big Brother: no visual stimulation. People watch BB because of the risque nature of the fly on the wall concept, spying in on other people's lives. But online, there isn't full disclosure, there are no visual things happening, and half of the contestants are never on at any given moment. Big Brother is a great concept, but it needs to be completely rewired if it wants to be successful. But otherwise, thank you for this opportunity to meet great people, and I look forward to your next hosted game.
........................................................................
And to the people of Tengaged, well my goal was to unite the community to this one game, but that plan fell throw. Alternatively, the community separated in that many took Jubbzy's idea and created their own gameshows.  People were invested in their own games instead of unifying to a singular game. Now I'm not saying that DB is superior to all the rest, but the amount of games out there is absurd. What image will this send to randomize if he wants to host Stars? Will people not pay attention because they are too busy with their own faux-stars game?
Well, remember Digital Brother was the first, and I'm proud to have bragging rights that I was a part of it.
.........................................................................
So I guess this goodbye from my end on Digital Brother. I don't know if I can continue to stay on Tengaged because of my very very VERY busy schedule. The people I met are both nice and quite mean, but a very diverse group undoubtedly. It was fun blogging; it was my medium to vent. And please, feel free to respond to my comments, your thoughts about all my posts, and what you think about Digital Brother. It was an honor to write to you all, and thank you for reading.
Until next time, I suppose...

It was really a great pleasure to play with ya Mat. I'm not sure how a lot of people took to your intellectual style, but I personally consider it unique and something to learn from. :) It was fun getting to know ya, and even if you do leave tengaged because of your schedule, a sincere good luck in starting the college life!
