New Casting Strategy

Oct 28, 2008 by smrtrtl25
So I recently got evicted from a Casting game. It was the final round of normal evictions. From the beginning to that point on, I was pretty active (as active as I can be), plussed all the time, and was well received by my housemates. For the final eviction, myself and another really active player were safe from evictions while the other three (also less active [with the exception of one]) were up for eviction. One of nominees was of course evicted, but I was the other in this double eviction. So this got me thinking, of all the time I've spent on this game (assumably more than the other two nominees), why was I the one evicted for inactivity? Well, here's my theory:
The algorithm evicts one of the nominees and one of the non nominated players. Think about it. Have you seen two people evicted in one sitting that were both nominated, even if both were the most inactive of the players? I think the algorithm is set up to make it one from each set, even in this final round.
IF this is true, then this would be the strategy: be a popular player from the earlier days, then be inactive for the penultimate day. You will be up for eviction, but you'll probably be saved because of your popularity. This will then save you from the inactive eviction if you are not nominated with other more active people.

If I'm right, then this algorithm sucks. But hey, it added a REALLY great twist in my game; I'm fairly certain no one expected me to go, especially since it frickin said IF YOU ARE NOT UP ON THE BLOCK IN THIS ROUND, THEN YOU ARE IN THE FINAL FOUR!!!!!!!!!!!

It kinda lies doesn't it? I think that might be a tip they used in the OLD castings, that didn't get changed when they made the NEW castings, ya see?

We had some surprise evictions also, smrtrtl......it's tough, because we don't know all the parameters the ALOG uses to decide who goes and who stays.  It seems there are so many more variables, too, with 20 people playing.

the algo is a simple
the even eviction, one of the ? will go
the odd evictions, algo will choose the least active, meaneset, quietestest, whatever the algo goes for really.

Yeah, activeness doesn't just mean being there, it means saying things, I spose.

In my game 2 of the nominees went, one from the vote and one from the algo, but it sure is unpredictable

Sometimes two nominees are evicted

um, you arent correct because in my current game there have been many evictions where both of the evictees were nominated their last day in the house

the people who dont understand the algorithm are getting really frustrated but im sure there is a good reason for every eviction it does

This isnt true.  Final 6 in my game,  Me-Salad-Jensa nominated  Jive, Grayson, Jubbzy voting...  at the end of the day me and Jiver were evicted.

So far in the Casting game I'm in, from what I've seen, the second person evicted in double evictions is the person who isn't on when a new day comes. Like if everyone is on when a new day starts except a person who left an hour before hand, the person who left an hour before would get the boot.
