#16 Survivor Season

Jun 15, 2014 by yankeeman311
Alright guys I want to apologize for the hiatus. My friend from Chicago was in the area so I've been doing a few day trips with him and haven't had time to write these blogs. Gonna try to do 2 today. For this one, #16 is:

BORNEO!

Flashback to the beginning of a legacy. Back when the show was about simple things and was meant more for entertainment and strategy. A nicer time when people didn't want to hurt each other's feelings. Everybody except Richard Hatch anyway. He was playing to win and set up what survivor would be all about today. We saw the very first alliance between Kelly and Sue with Hatch joining in and Rudy by association. It was also great to see Pagong fall by a 4-person alliance because they all thought they could get ahead voting by themselves. Of course we had 1 of the more strategical votes of the season with Jenna getting voted out because of the "alphabet system". We also saw Kelly go on an incredible immunity run of 4 straight wins which has STILL never been topped by another woman. The show changed forever when Richard dropped out of the final immunity challenge. Made that tribal a lot more interesting with the battle between Kelly and Rudy with Kelly winning. Sure enough, Hatch's strategy worked. Then to this day, the most famous jury speech and the best one happened with Sue with her rats and snakes speech. If you really think about it, she hit the nail right on the head with that for not only thieir games, but how other people play the game. Most are either rats or snakes. Not only the obvious moments were good from this season, most of the cast was actually pretty entertaining. Greg was the original Tyson, Colleen was somewhat the original Parvati, Kelly was the rat with a nice downfall, Rudy was Rudy, Sue was Sue and Hatch was naked.

The negative to this season was the complete lack of strategy outside of Richard Hatch. Sue, Kelly and Colleen were the only other players that even attempted to play a strategic game outside of him but none of their's fared well. Sue had a poor social game and that cost her her strategic game, Colleen didn't start until it was too late and Kelly backed off because she was worried about Pagong's feelings. Nobody was there to win. To be fair, nobody knew how to play the game but the fact that these people cared so much about strangers when there's one million dollars on the line is just inexcusable. This might've been survivor's beginning but this is not what the game was meant to be or what it evolved into.

All in all entertaining season with a lot of nice highlights, just lack of depth in actual talent for the game.

Stay tuned for #15! Hint- this season had one of the best final 2/3's in survivor history

yay its back but if you look at it greg was eliminated for being a strategic threat due to him being able to adapt and change personalities

"To be fair, nobody knew how to play the game but the fact that these people cared so much about strangers when there's one million dollars on the line is just inexcusable."

Also, this kind of contradicts itself. Also, because Survivor was intended to be a social experiment where people grow together through hardships of living on the island, you can't blame them that first season because they were there for that purpose. Richard, being the guy that he is, decided to increase his odds of getting the million because he was casted to be one of the first gone. So you can't blame them for not playing cutthroat when the game was first being invented

semaj You're right but once again, that was a Hatch move.

Dinosauro27 Survivor is a social experiment so Hatch played into exactly that. He used the experiment to his advantage since a social experiment doesn't really have set guidelines on how to win. I can't blame them for lack of strategic knowledge but I can blame them for what seemed like lack of awareness that they're competing for a million dollars. I don't think you see in my quote that there's a difference between not having strategic knowledge and not being competitive.

this season was great because it ended up being an entirely different game at the end than it was at the start
