I really think getting to articles 2-3 weeks later for a literal totally different server experience is well worth it but I am in a minority.
A strict cap is not going to work. As an instance, if they limit it to 1000 gold then players/bots will purchase subs or accounts to use as mules to disperse their gold . If gold has been reset to 0, players/bots would bring about copious amounts of materials to sell in TBC.
There are tons of players needing to buy vanilla career materials, for example. There are also some bis consumables which use vanilla herbs.
And the greatest reason not consider it, is that unless they follow with a serious attempt to stop gold buyers/sellers, then affect only hurts honest players.
Nearly 80% of the new folks we take in appear to turn out to be gold farmers. (I think that the gold farmers are more widespread as they use WoW for a job and bounce between scripting and actually controlling their toon) We have never gotten some kick backs from such personalities but we generally take like 2 raids to determine they are golden sellers to have the ability to kick them from guild.
I had exactly the exact same tinfoil hat kind of conspiracy but I've given up on this storyline. Reason being is personally I'm in a semi hardcore guild and in this stage in classic it's very tough to find new people coming raiders so when a few unguided 60's desire in to get a trial ridden place we are made to try out them.
