SURVIVOR: REALITY SHOWDOWN Episode 8

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: With Lauren gone, Michele felt upset, knowing her number one ally was no longer around. Danielle approached Tyler and asked why he flipped and Tyler said that he just felt more secure with the others. Danielle knew that she could blow up in that moment, but instead decided to focus on the positive. “The good thing is that we have the numbers,” Danielle said, “And if there’s somehow an idol played on the other side, I don’t want to be the one they put their votes on. So I’m gonna still smile and appease Tyler.” The next morning, some people were up bright and early looking for idols. James searched, knowing that he was likely a target. “They voted for me last night, they could very well do it again,” James said, while Tyler knew that he was still in a vulnerable position and also went looking. But it was Derek that found the idol and celebrated. “I’m not sure yet if I’ll share this with Tiffany or Danielle, so it’s my secret right now,” Derek said.

At the immunity challenge, it was revealed that the contestants would have to run a very difficult obstacle course in three stages. After the first phase, the top 6 would continue. After that, the top three. And after that, the winner would have immunity. After the first stage was run, Tyler, Jamal, Michele, Hung, Jeremy, and Derek were the six to finish first, eliminating the rest. Then, the first three to complete the next phase were Jamal, Jeremy, and Tyler. The final battle was a battle between Big Brother, Amazing Race, and Survivor, and Tyler ended up taking the win.

Back at camp, the Survivors (as well as Jamal and Tyler) settled on their target. “We should go for James again,” Michele said, “because the likelihood of him having another idol is slim.” “My only worry,” Jeremy said, “is that he could have found another idol, and we don’t know.” The group then decided on Hung, as she was the least likely person to have an idol. Either way, the group knew they had to sway one of the other side to their side. “I’m gonna work on Derek,” Tyler said. Tyler pulled aside Derek, asking him if he would consider flipping, and Derek wasn’t sure. “I’ll tell you right now, it’s not going to be any of the Big Brother people,” Tyler said. Derek said he’d think about it.

As for the other side, they debated on their target. “We have the majority, so even if an idol is played, we control who goes home,” James told the alliance. Claire suggested Jeremy because he was a winner and could win challenges. “I honestly think Jamal may be a bigger threat since he won the last challenge and came in 2nd this time,” James said. Tiffany and Danielle were quick to agree with James, and Derek realized that James had a lot of sway. “The fact that my closest allies were so quick to say yes to James means that he has a lot of power,” Derek said, “and I don’t particularly like that.” Derek pulled Tyler aside and said that he would vote with them IF they voted for James. “What if James has an idol though, dude,” Tyler said, to which Derek revealed, “I have the idol.” Tyler saw this as a real opportunity, and had to try and get his alliance on board before the time was up.

At tribal council, Tiffany said that she was disappointed in Tyler’s flip, but happy that they had the numbers. James said he felt more vulnerable since he had parted with his idol. Jeremy said that he was always nervous for tribal whenever he didn’t have immunity, and Tyler said he was relieved that he DID have immunity to secure his safety. After the votes, nobody played an idol. The first vote came in for Jamal, which surprised him, while the next vote went for James. It ended up tying at 5-5, with one vote left, being Derek’s vote, in which he voted for James, shocking the entire rest of the Big Brother side and James, who was heartbroken for his blindside. “I am shocked,” James said. “Who flipped?” Tiffany asked, before Derek said “I did, I’ll explain it later.” Tiffany couldn’t believe it, and was very upset at her “closest” ally. The Survivors, Tyler, and Jamal were happy that they were able to retain the numbers.
