SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Episode 4

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Following the vote, Jenn and Christine knew they were on the outs, also assuming Bret was still with them though he also secretly wanted Malcolm out, and Christine and Crystal confronted each other after the vote. “All I did was look out for you, and you turned your back on us,” Christine said. Crystal said that it was just a game and she just needed to make a move to give her power. “And taking out either Devens or Wentworth would have been a power move too,” Jenn said. Bret tried to refocus Jenn and Christine, knowing they were upset, and told them that there were still bigger threats out there. “I honestly think at this point, Crystal’s target is huge,” Bret said, “So let’s just try and keep our sights on other people who may slip through the cracks because they’re the ones we’ll need to worry about in the long run.”

The next morning, at the Peanut Butter beach, Tony was up bright and early attempting to search for fish for his tribe. “I know that if we lose,” Tony said, “They’ll get rid of me in a heartbeat, so I need to earn back this tribe’s trust.” Tony found fish, and his tribe was very appreciative. Meanwhile, Stacey knew what Tony was doing was all show. “He knows he’s in deep doo-doo and wants to save his skin,” she said. Tony went to Denise to try to patch things up, and Denise said she would look out for him if she heard his name. “At this point,” Denise said, “I do think the higher threats need to stick together, and as long as Tony’s around, he’s always a bigger threat than me. People like Kenny, Stacey, Hali, and Lauren are going to slip through the cracks, and those are the people I have to keep an eye on.” Meanwhile, Lauren was nervous that Kelley was going to be booted and David consoled her. “If they voted her out,” David said, “Just know that there was a reason, and let that give you the fighting chance to keep going. I’d do the same if Devens was sent out.”

At the immunity challenge, however, Lauren learned that Kelley was still there, and got emotional. Denise, however, was shocked that Malcolm was gone. “Of course I’d like answers,” Denise said, “But it’s a game, and I’m sure they have a reason.” The challenge required 5 contestants to weight to 4 players (2 women, 2 men) progressively until all four dropped. Last person standing would win it for their team. For Peanut Butter, Stacey and Denise held the weight for the women, while Tony and Dom held it for the men. For Jelly tribe, Crystal and Christine held it for the women while Wendell and Rick held for the men. As the weight got progressively heavier, all four Jelly members felt the burn a bit. Christine was out first, followed by Crystal. Next was Wendell, leaving only Rick to take on the four Peanut Butter members. Denise was next out, followed by Dom. This left Tony and Stacey vs. Rick Devens. Stacey dropped, leaving Tony and Rick. Tony knew this was his chance to earn the respect from his team. Rick dropped, giving PB the win. Rick was applauded by his team.

Back at camp, the team congratulated Rick for his hard effort. Jenn saw this and didn’t like how much praise Rick was getting. “I think people forget how tight Devens and Kelley are with Lauren and David on the other side, PLUS Devens and Kelley are together on this tribe as is,” she said, “I just don’t think we can keep around a pair so threatening.” Jenn talked to Bret and Christine, who agreed. “We’ll need to get two more votes,” Christine said, but Bret figured that if they could just get one more vote, all he needed to do was get the other side to split votes and they could send home Devens. “I agree that Devens is a huge threat, and while he’s a tribe asset, he’s already becoming a favorite to win.”

Meanwhile, the alliance of Kelley, Devens, Sarah, and Wendell set their sights on Christine. “She is smart and she can bite us back when we least expect it,” Sarah said. They assumed they would be able to use Ricard and Crystal as the swing votes, putting votes on Jenn in case of an idol play. “The guys will vote for Jenn, the women Christine,” Wendell proposed. However, Bret wanted to work on Ricard. “We’re both gay dudes who really don’t want to see these huge power players run away with the game,” Bret said. “If we can split up Kelley and Devens now, we can run this thing the four of us,” he told Ricard. Ricard was once again in the swing position, and said “I know that both sides pose threats for different reasons, but am I particularly scared of Christine or Jenn? Not really. I am terrified of Rick Devens after seeing his season.”

At tribal council, Christine said that she was definitely worried she wouldn’t have the votes to stay. Jenn was also nervous, knowing that Malcolm was a huge threat and if they kept picking off big threats, they’d end up losing more challenges. Devens was excited because he knew that he had proved his worth to his tribe. “I know it makes me a bigger threat, but it also shows that the team can count on me,” he said, “And I hope that counts for something.” After the vote, Bret crossed his fingers hoping that Ricard would vote with them. The first few votes came in, with Crystal, Sarah, and Wentworth voting for Christine and Devens and Wendell voting for Jenn. The next three votes from Jenn, Bret, and Christine went to Devens, much to Devens’ surprise. The last vote was Ricard’s, and while his previous alliance had expected him to stick to the plan and vote for Jenn, he voted for Rick Devens, sending him packing and ending his journey short. “Well done everyone,” Rick said, “And much respect to you all.” Wendell and Sarah knew they were in danger, and Wentworth was impressed knowing that this season was already off to a very cutthroat start.
