SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Episode 13

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Christine and Jenn tried to do some damage control, knowing they flipped on their alliance and were unsuccessful. “I need you all to know where I’m coming from,” Christine told her previous alliance, but Crystal was upset, knowing that it would be harder to move forward. Kenny, however, knew that the biggest threat was still Shan. “All of us still have to set our sights toward Shan,” Kenny said, “She has three guaranteed jury votes from Ricard, Sarah, and Wendell, and it may grow beyond that if she manages to make the final three.” Ken hoped his words had reached his alliance.

At the immunity challenge, Shan knew she had to fight for her safety, but Christine and Jenn had the same prerogative. “Even with an idol,” Jenn said, “I don’t want to put myself on the chopping block and would rather just have immunity to make sure I’m 100% secure.” The challenge involved the contestants racing through a maze collecting balls in which they would try to hit a series of targets to raise a flag. Immediately, Wentworth and Lauren took off at the front of the pack, with Christine and Jenn slightly behind. Shan struggled, while Kenny and Crystal were tailing the back of the pack. Lauren was the first through the maze and began shooting for the targets, followed by Wentworth. Luckily for Jenn, she was able to have two lucky hits in a row, and just needed one more. It came down to Lauren and Jenn, but Jenn ultimately won the challenge, earning safety.

Back at camp, Kenny, Crystal, Wentworth, and Lauren knew that the target had to be either Christine or Shan, with Shan being the priority. “If we have Christine and Jenn vote for Shan, we can have two of us vote for Christine in the odd chance that Shan has an idol,” Wentworth said, but Lauren got a bit paranoid that splitting votes could lead to something disastrous. “The question now becomes whether or not we go all in on Shan,” Kenny said, “Or split the votes and risk Christine and Jenn flipping and sending one of us home.”

Ken talked to both Christine and Jenn and asked if they’d be comfortable voting for Shan, to which they both said yes. “I do want to know that we’ll be okay afterward though,” Christine said, and Kenny said that he and Crystal would be willing to give them their word for a final four. “At this point,” Kenny said in confessional, “Having a final four with both Wentworth and Lauren and Christine and Jenn basically guarantees both Crystal and I final four and I don’t think it’s bad that we’re playing both sides when it’s so close to the end.” Christine and Jenn were worried that they’d pull a fast one, but Christine said “If they do split the votes on me, then I’ll go home, but since Ken made that deal, you can expose him to Wentworth and Lauren.”

At the tribal council, Shan said that she could sense that her time might be coming to an end. “Did I look for idols? Yes. Did I find them? We’ll just have to wait and see,” Shan said. Lauren said that the further to the end of the game they got, the harder it would be to split votes. “I just have to put faith that my alliance did what’s best for everyone’s game and didn’t play selfishly,” she said. After the vote, nobody played an idol. Shan voted for Ken, not really knowing where the momentum was shifting, but the entire rest of the tribe voted for Shan, sending her home as the 6th juror. Christine and Jenn were happy not to see a split vote, and Ken knew he had made the right move, getting rid of his last huge threat and making sure that all four others outside of him and Crystal trusted him.
