SURVIVOR: DYNAMIC DUOS 2 Episode 3

imagePREVIOUSLY ON SURVIVOR: Following the vote of Chris’ elimination, David knew he had to explain himself to Tony and Dom. “These are two very menacing guys that I need to still have my trust,” David said, and he apologized saying that the girls all threatened to vote him out if he didn’t vote with them. “I hope you understand that now we’re desperate and we hope you and even Lauren are willing to work with us,” Tony said. Tony knew that he needed to keep his threat level low and would only scheme if the time arose.

The next morning, Malcolm was providing for his tribe well. Sarah recognized this and told Wendell that Malcolm was dangerous. “I honestly think the fact that he hasn’t won makes him more dangerous than either of us,” Wendell said. “I know that Kelley and Devens will be looked at as a pair to separate, but I think the four of us could do lots of damage if we band together.” Wendell approached Wentworth and Devens and told them that Malcolm was way too dangerous. Wentworth was glad that she was in the loop but also knew that losing Malcolm so early could be detrimental to her tribe. Meanwhile, Crystal was struggling to adjust to the new environment. “It’s been so long since I played,” Crystal said, “And this reminds me why it was so tough.” Christine tried to console her and say that she just had to take it day by day. “On my season,” Christine said, “I woke up every morning knowing it could be my last, but I still made the best of it and stayed optimistic.” The two hugged it out, and Crystal vowed to give it her all.

At the Peanut Butter beach, Shan knew that she got votes and wanted to try and protect herself best she could. She had Hali follow her to the woods and guard her while she searched for an idol, and luckily enough, she found it. “This is a huge life saver and could really change my game for the better,” she said. At the Jelly beach, it was Jenn who decided to go on an idol hunt and ended up finding it as well, and shared it with her alliance of Crystal, Bret, and Christine. “With this idol, we’re unstoppable baby,” Jenn said.

At the immunity challenge, Bret saw that Chris was gone and was upset, but knew that this would just fuel his game going forward. The tribes had to compete in a long dash through the jungle, collecting clues to solve a special puzzle at the end. Knowing this was a mostly knowledge based game, Kenny told his tribe to keep it slow and take there time really reading the clues before going to solve the word puzzle. Meanwhile, the Jelly tribe came out the gate fast, getting to the final puzzle mat quickly, but unfortunately nobody could figure out the final puzzle. Kenny, luckily, breezed through the puzzle and Peanut Butter won immunity. Ecstatic, the Peanut Butter tribe lifted Kenny on their shoulders.

Back at camp, Malcolm gathered his alliance and said that they should try and separate Devens and Wentworth. “Knowing Jenn has an idol, I don’t even think we need to split the vote,” Malcolm said. Bret, however, felt that Malcolm was really overplaying. “He’s trying to run the vote, and he’s the most threatening person out here,” Bret said. Wendell and Sarah tried approaching Wentworth and Devens with the plan to get out Malcolm. “If we let him take off, we won’t be able to stop him,” Wendell said. “My only thing is that he seems like he has the numbers and I don’t think we’ll be able to outnumber him,” Devens said. However, in a conversation with Bret, Devens realized that Bret was wavering. “If the five of us vote, we can force a tie,” Devens said, “All we need is one more vote to tip the scale.”

Bret approached Christine and Crystal about making a big move and going for Malcolm. “I won’t do it,” Christine said, but Crystal immediately said “I need to make a power move, and this could be it.” Christine was annoyed. “It almost seems like my advice went right to her head,” Christine said, and decided to tell Malcolm that Crystal was now thinking of voting him out. Malcolm was stressed, seeing that Crystal flipped and told Jenn, Christine, and Bret to vote out Crystal. “She also has Kenny on the other side, and judging by his challenge performance, I think he may need to also get knocked down a peg,” Jenn said. Bret couldn’t believe it. “I was the one who brought the idea to Crystal and Christine, but somehow only Crystal is the public enemy #1 and my name hasn’t come up at all,” he said, laughing. “And honestly, I’d like to keep it that way.”

Malcolm knew he had to approach a few more people to get the numbers. Malcolm approached Ricard to pitch an alliance to him. “Crystal is trying to get me out, I’d like for you to join us and help take her out,” he told Ricard. Ricard however knew that taking out Malcolm was a much bigger move in the long term than getting rid of Crystal. “It’s really a matter of whether or not to get out the better player now or keep him around for challenge strength, knowing that he could mop the floor with all of us later,” Ricard said in confessional. Malcolm made his way to Wendell and Sarah and said, “Listen, I know we don’t talk a lot of game, but I’d love to band together and get out Crystal. She’s throwing my name around and she’s duo’ed with Kenny on the other tribe, who is clearly dominating these puzzles,” he told them. Wendell and Sarah laughed privately, knowing that Malcolm was really paranoid and they had the ability to send him home. “I honestly wonder if it’s better to keep the paranoid Malcolm around since it’s clearly a great shield for us,” Sarah said, “but I don’t want to make the million dollar mistake of keeping him around one more week.”

At tribal, Malcolm said that he felt like everything was okay until he heard his name thrown around. “It’s terrifying,” Malcolm said. “My only hope,” he said, “is that I put my faith in the right people.” Crystal said that she was ready to step her game up. “Today was a rough day, and Christine consoled me,” she said, before Christine interrupted her saying “You then betrayed my trust by turning your back on the alliance.” The two bickered, with Wendell laughing saying “I had no idea about any alliance, so this is enlightening.” After the vote, Jenn considered playing her idol, but ultimately decided to hold onto it, hoping they had the votes to keep Malcolm. The first three votes from Christine, Malcolm, and Jenn went to Crystal, with Wendell, Sarah, Wentworth, and Devens voting for Malcolm. Next was Bret’s vote, who voted for Crystal to save face with people like Jenn and Christine, while Crystal threw a vote toward Christine in a bit of sourness. Lastly was Ricard, who made the decision to vote out Malcolm, taking a shot he knew he might not be able to take again. Malcolm went out in a 5–4-1 vote, sending him home in another devastating blindside. Bret was happy that his wishes came true, and he didn’t get any blood on his hands doing it since Ricard did the dirty work for him.
